Good security starts with boring habits. Most personal risk does not require advanced attacks. It comes from reused passwords, skipped updates, weak recovery settings, and unclear device ownership.

My current baseline is:

  • Use a password manager for every important account.
  • Turn on multi-factor authentication for email, finance, cloud storage, and developer accounts.
  • Keep operating systems, browsers, and critical apps updated.
  • Review account recovery options every few months.
  • Back up important files using at least two locations.

This is not glamorous, but it is measurable. A defensive habit should lower risk without making normal life impossible.

The next improvement is to write a short asset list: devices, accounts, backup locations, and recovery methods. If I do not know what matters, I cannot protect it well.
